Intel's strongest black technology strikes: Flash cache debut

In mid-March 2017, Intel officially released the new SSD DC P4800X based on Optane flash technology, which is targeted for data center applications. Alibaba and Tencent were first deployed.

SSD DC P4800X adopts PCI-E 3.0 x4 expansion card style, supports NVMe, the initial capacity is 375GB, the price is $1520, and the performance of QD16 4KB random read and write is up to 550,000 and 500,000 IOPS, and the latency is extremely low.
Intel said that there will be U.2 specifications and 750GB/1TB capacity in the future.
On March 28, 2017, Intel officially released another product form of Optane flash technology-cache!
The Intel Optane Memory flash cache is actually a low-latency M.2 NVMe SSD, which is mainly used with mechanical hard drives as a system cache.
It uses M.2 2280 single-sided specification design, equipped with one or two single Die packaged 3D XPoint chips, manufactured by 20nm process, with a total capacity of 16GB and 32GB.
The controller chip is very small, only supports PCI-E 3.0 x2, and there is no DRAM external cache, but the specific model is unknown.
In terms of performance, QD4 has continuous read and write speeds of 1200 and 280MB/s, random read and write speeds of 300,000 and 70,000 IOPS, and typical read and write delays of 6, 16 microseconds.
In terms of lifespan, 100GB can be written per day. Both models are the same, that is, 3-6 full-disk writes per day, much higher than the average SSD.
In terms of power consumption, the standby is 0.9-1.2W, and the reading and writing 3.5W.
Intel flash memory can be used with independent HDD mechanical hard drives, SATA SSD solid state drives, and SSHD hybrid hard drives, or it can assist HDDs in the SSD+HDD combination.
However, it must cooperate with the system boot disk. It does not support the non-boot disk in the dual-disk system, nor does it support PCI-E SSD or RAID.
In addition, it can only be used on the latest platform of Kaby Lake 7th-generation Core processors and 200 series motherboards.
It will be listed on April 24, 2017, and the price will be USD 44 (approximately RMB 300) for 16GB and USD 77 (approximately RMB 530) for 32GB.
